LOCAL CONSUMER PROGRAM

Welcome to the Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket Local Consumer Program.

We are part of a statewide network of agencies working together in cooperation with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office

We are committed to protecting consumers from unfair or deceptive business practices.

We provide consumer education and advocacy between consumers and business and/or service providers. If your complaint is against a person and not a business, please contact our mediation services.

OUR SERVICES ARE FREE.

The most common consumer issues include:
  • Defective products;
  • Car sales and financing;
  • Auto repossession issues;
  • Debt collection;
  • Mortgage servicing and loan modification;
  • Home improvement contracts;

  • Shut off unregulated utilities; and
  • Issues specific to immigrants, veterans, homeless, and elderly residents.

Consumer Education

Our program offers a variety of resources and educational materials to help consumers learn about their rights and responsibilities when it comes to buying goods and services. Our goal is to empower consumers so that they can make informed decisions and avoid becoming victims of scams, fraud, or other unfair business practices.
